Western Window Systems has announced a change in the silicone used in its butt joint windows that feature glass made by Cardinal IG. The move is designed to produce a more consistent appearance and superior performance as well as to eliminate material compatibility issues.
“Western Window Systems has established a relationship with Cardinal for our custom glass procurement, and since Cardinal uses gray silicone on all its insulated glass units, we are following Cardinal’s recommendation to use the silicone,” says Cameron Wyatt, vice president of design and supply chain.
The silicone used is an industry-leading sealant produced by Dow Corning.
“We will no longer recommend other alternatives,” Wyatt says.
